Novak Djokovic added another historic chapter to his legendary career, playing his record-breaking 430th Grand Slam singles match and advancing to the Australian Open third round with a 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2 win over qualifier Jaime Faria.

In a match that combined skill, resilience, and determination, Djokovic surpassed Roger Federer’s all-time record for the most Grand Slam singles matches played, cementing his place as a titan of tennis history.

While the 37-year-old Serb eventually powered past Faria, the qualifier did not make it easy, taking the second set in a tiebreak and testing Djokovic’s endurance. Reflecting on the milestone, Djokovic said, “I love this sport. I love competition. I try to give my best every single time.”

The victory also marked another record: Djokovic became the first man over the age of 30 to notch 150 Grand Slam singles wins. Despite his age, the seventh seed continues to set the bar higher, delivering performances that inspire fans and intimidate opponents.

With 24 Grand Slam titles already to his name, Djokovic is now just five wins away from rewriting history once again. Should he claim the title in Melbourne, he would secure his 25th major, breaking Margaret Court’s record for the most Grand Slam singles titles of all time.

Djokovic credited his longevity to his unrelenting passion for the game. “Whether I win or lose, I will always leave my heart out on the court. I’m just blessed to be making another record,” he said.

Next for Djokovic and further glory is Czech 26th seed Tomáš Macháč in the third round.
