Ghanaian broadcast journalist Natalie Fort has shared candid reflections on taking a break from her media career in her twenties, describing it as a necessary step to regain clarity, emotional balance, and personal direction.

Speaking on The Dish hosted by Miriam Uduack Mensah, Fort addressed public speculation that surrounded her sudden pause from the screen, noting that the decision was intentional rather than a setback.

“It was a much needed season,” she said. “Sometimes you need a break, not because anything is wrong, but to recalibrate and realign.”

Her comments shed light on the often-overlooked pressures young media professionals face, especially women in high-visibility roles, where career breaks are frequently misunderstood or heavily scrutinized.

Fort, who began her media career at TV3 at the age of 20 after an initial background in modeling, explained that stepping back allowed her to reconnect with her values and reassess her long-term goals in the industry.

Beyond career reflection, she emphasized the importance of grounding influences such as family and faith in maintaining personal stability amid public life.

“I am not scared. Fear makes things real. I choose not to fear,” she stated, adding that her Christian faith remains a central anchor in her life and work.

“Spirituality is a foundational part of who I am. My faith has gotten me through so much.”

She further highlighted the importance of authenticity in career decisions, noting that she prioritizes roles and projects that align with her identity and values.

“Does this resonate with who I truly am?” she said, describing the question she asks before accepting opportunities.

The conversation forms part of The Dish Season 5, a program focused on empowering young women through dialogue with influential female figures navigating leadership, media, and personal development.
