The Electoral Commission (EC) has  clarified that significant progress has been made in addressing the issues identified with the voters register ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to the EC, most of the discrepancies flagged by political stakeholders have been corrected, which has contributed to ensuring that the voters’ register is more accurate and reliable for the upcoming elections.

Speaking during a meeting with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to address recent concerns raised regarding the credibility of the voters’ register, the EC chairperson Madam Jean Mensah noted that these discrepancies identified have been resolved. She noted that the updates made to the register would reduce the potential for voter disenfranchisement and other related challenges during election day.

“As a commission, we can confidently state that the discrepancies discovered have been resolved…we have made significant progress in clearing the voter register” she noted.

Meanwhile, Jean Mensa has announced that the Commission will conduct a second exhibition of the voter register to address any remaining discrepancies.

This digital process will allow voters to verify their details on the provisional register without incurring any cost.

Voters will be given a set period to report any discrepancies in their registration details to the EC, ensuring that any issues are corrected before the final register is compiled.
