A total of 10,833 parcels of illegal narcotic substances have been destroyed at the Koforidua dumping site along the Akwadum road in the Eastern Region, in line with Section 108 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act.

The exercise was carried out under the supervision of officials from the Ghana Police Service, the Narcotics Control Commission (NCC), the Attorney-General’s Department, and legal representatives of the accused persons. It followed a court directive issued on May 5, 2026, relating to separate narcotics cases before the Koforidua Circuit Court.

In one of the cases involving Ayertey Raphael Wilson and Samuel Tettey, the accused were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of narcotic drugs for trafficking without lawful authority, and additional related offences under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020 (Act 1019).

The accused persons were later convicted through a plea bargaining agreement submitted on April 28, 2026.

Following the court’s ruling, authorities destroyed 150 sacks of seized substances. These included 77 sacks transported in a truck with registration number GN 993-14 and 74 sacks carried in another truck with registration number GG 3674-20.

Each sack contained about 70 parcels of cannabis, bringing the total quantity destroyed in that case alone to 10,500 parcels.

In a separate matter involving Innocent Klokofi, an additional 333 parcels of cannabis were also destroyed, in accordance with the court’s order issued on May 5, 2026.
