The Ghana High Commission in South Africa has urged Ghanaians residing in South Africa to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures ahead of planned demonstrations in Pretoria.

In a statement dated April 28, 2026, the Mission warned that a protest organised by the March Organisation is expected to take place at the Presidency, centred on immigration-related concerns.

The High Commission cautioned that the situation could become unpredictable and advised Ghanaians to stay away from protest locations.

As part of safety measures, business owners have been encouraged to shut their shops for the day, while individuals have been urged to avoid participating in public gatherings that could escalate.

The Mission also called on Ghanaians to keep a low profile, exercise caution in public, and be mindful of their activities on social media.

It further advised against sharing content that could be deemed provocative, noting that tensions surrounding the demonstrations remain high.

The High Commission assured the Ghanaian community that it is closely monitoring developments and will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
