In a compelling demonstration of community investment and educational support, the Chief Executive Officer of the Penyman Foundation, Mr. Eric Kwesi Taylor, made a significant impact at the recently concluded Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District Maths and Science Quiz Finals, held on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

His presence at the event was not just ceremonial — it came with a remarkable package of awards that set a new benchmark for academic competitions in the district.

During his remarks at the event, Mr. Taylor emphasized his long-standing commitment to the development of Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, identifying education as a key pillar in his broader vision for community transformation. He expressed that supporting the academic aspirations of the district’s youth is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in its future. With this in mind, the Penyman Foundation curated a comprehensive prize package that recognized excellence at every stage of the competition, while also encouraging continued effort from all participating schools and teachers.

The first-place winners received an outstanding array of prizes, including a high-performance CPU processor with accessories, designed to support advanced ICT training in areas such as programming and robotics. This equipment is set to be professionally installed by ICT experts when schools resume. Additionally, each of the three student winners was awarded a laptop and a matching laptop bag, providing them with the tools to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom. Their dedicated teachers were not left out, receiving a GH₵500 cash prize and customized T-shirts alongside the students.

Second place winners were also handsomely rewarded. Each student contestant received a large school bag, while their teachers were granted GH₵500 in cash. The school was gifted 200 exercise books, and both students and teachers received custom-branded T-shirts to commemorate their achievement.

Third and fourth place schools received similar packages, with contestants earning school bags and teachers receiving GH₵500 cash prizes. The schools were awarded 150 and 100 exercise books, respectively, in addition to a set of customized T-shirts to promote team spirit and pride in participation.

Recognizing the effort it takes to reach the final stages of such a competition, Mr. Taylor and the Penyman Foundation extended rewards to semi-finalist and quarter-finalist schools as well. The two schools that reached the semi-finals received 100 exercise books each and five branded T-shirts, while each of the six quarter-finalist schools took home 50 exercise books to support classroom learning.

The gesture was met with overwhelming appreciation from attendees, educators, and community leaders, many of whom described it as a game-changing moment for education in the district. By rewarding not only academic excellence but also effort and dedication, Mr. Taylor’s initiative has inspired renewed motivation among students and teachers alike. It has also elevated the stature of the district’s science and math competitions, turning them into events of prestige and opportunity.

This show of generosity and foresight reflects a deeper mission of the Penyman Foundation — to empower the next generation with the tools, encouragement, and recognition they need to thrive.

Through this powerful act, Mr. Eric Kwesi Taylor has not only rewarded excellence but also sparked a wave of aspiration that is sure to ripple through the district for years to come.
