Knicks crush Cavaliers to reach NBA Finals as New York dares to dream again

For the first time since 1999, the New York Knicks are heading to the NBA Finals. And they did it in stunning fashion, blowing away the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 in a ruthless Game 4 performance that felt less like a playoff battle and more like a celebration waiting to happen.

Rocket Arena slowly emptied long before the final buzzer. The noise that remained belonged almost entirely to Knicks fans, who turned a road arena into a sea of belief as New York completed a commanding sweep of the Eastern Conference finals.

This team has developed a brutal playoff habit. They walk into hostile arenas, silence the crowd, and leave with another statement win. Cleveland became the latest victim of a Knicks side now riding an 11-game winning streak that is entering historic territory.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the charge with 19 points and 14 rebounds, bullying Cleveland’s frontcourt with power and composure. OG Anunoby added 17 points, while Landry Shamet continued his remarkable shooting streak with 16 points and four perfect three-pointers.

The Knicks overwhelmed Cleveland with energy. Their bench outscored the Cavaliers 58-24, and their devastating transition game produced a staggering 33-9 fast-break advantage. At one stage, New York led by 45 points.

Yet this run is about far more than numbers. It is about chemistry, sacrifice, and belief. “This is a very selfless group,” Josh Hart said. “We were willing to sacrifice our own individual performances or stats or accolades for the betterment of the team.”

That mentality has transformed the Knicks from contenders into something much more dangerous. Jalen Brunson did not need one of his trademark scoring explosions in Game 4, but his leadership remained central. The guard finished with 15 points and five assists before being named Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

“The belief the organization has in me has been amazing,” Brunson said. “It’s an honor to be here, in this city with my teammates. These guys have my back.”

The emotion around the franchise was impossible to ignore. Celebrities packed the sidelines, cameras flashed from every corner, and longtime Knicks supporter Spike Lee soaked in a moment New York fans have waited decades to experience again.

“1973 is a long time,” Lee said, referencing the franchise’s last championship. “You’ve got to give credit to Leon Rose. Smart moves. Basketball is a city game.”

For Towns, the night carried personal meaning. After years of playoff heartbreak, he is finally heading to the Finals for the first time in his career. “It’s a magical thing, it’s a historic thing,” he said. “It’s something New York has been dying for, for a long time.”

Still, while New York celebrated, Cleveland faced painful questions. Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points but could not stop the collapse. Despite the sweep, he insisted the Cavaliers are not far away. “I’m sorry for the city of Cleveland,” Mitchell said. “But we’ll be back. We’ll be ready. We’ll be hungry.”
