Ghana’s U20 Women’s national team coach, Yussif Basigi, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations as they gear up for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The Black Princesses recently played two friendly matches, which provided valuable insights into their readiness for the tournament.
In their latest match, they faced South Korea in an engaging game that ended in a 2-1 loss, with Ghana conceding twice from the penalty spot. Prior to this, they played a goalless draw against Mexico.
Basigi noted that the team’s performance against South Korea showed improvement compared to their previous match against Mexico.
He acknowledged the challenges posed by conceding penalties but emphasized that these experiences would help the team better understand what to expect in the tournament.
He also highlighted the importance of being cautious with physical play, given how referees might interpret fouls in the tournament.
The Black Princesses are set to compete in Group E of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, where they will face Austria, Japan, and New Zealand.
Despite the challenges ahead, Basigi remains confident in his team’s potential and believes they are well-prepared to meet expectations on the world stage.
