The Criminal Division of the Tamale High Court is expected to deliver judgment today in a long-running corruption case involving former officials of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and other accused persons.

The case, titled The Republic v. Sumaila Abdul Rahman and 3 Others, has been before the court for nearly four years. It centres on alleged corruption and related offences linked to procurement activities under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme.

Those standing trial include Sumaila Abdul-Rahman, former Chief Executive Officer of the NDA; Stephen Yir-Eru Engmen; Patrick Seidu; and Andrew Kuundaari, Chief Executive Officer of A&QS Consortium Ltd.

In the course of proceedings, the accused persons filed a submission of no case, which was dismissed by the trial court. They subsequently challenged the decision at the Court of Appeal, but the appellate court, in a unanimous ruling, upheld the earlier decision, allowing the trial to continue.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor on Thursday, April 22, 2026, the case has now reached its final stage, with the defence closed and final addresses filed.

The High Court is therefore set to deliver its verdict today, bringing to a close a case that has drawn significant public interest due to its implications for accountability and the management of public resources.
