Manchester United’s crisis deepens as INEOS cuts take toll

Manchester United’s struggles extend beyond the pitch, with manager Rúben Amorim admitting that INEOS’ ongoing cost-cutting measures are impacting everyone at the club. Amid financial losses, job cuts, and a dismal league position, United face a defining moment both on and off the field.

United announced a new “transformation plan,” including up to 200 redundancies as INEOS seeks to curb financial losses. The club sits 15th in the Premier League, far from the Champions League places, adding to the growing frustration among fans and staff.

Amorim acknowledged the turmoil ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Ipswich Town. “Everybody sees their friends and teammates losing their jobs, but we have to focus on what we can do to help the club,” he said. He stressed the importance of understanding how United reached this point, linking the club’s financial woes to the team’s lack of success.

Since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November, Amorim has won just seven games. His arrival was meant to spark a turnaround, but poor results and a tense atmosphere have only deepened United’s crisis. “This year has been really hard for everybody,” he admitted. “When a team is winning, changes are easier to accept, but right now, we’re in a difficult period.”

Despite United’s struggles at Old Trafford, Amorim insists he does not feel added pressure from home fans. “Every time you play at Old Trafford, you feel the support,” he said. “It’s a new game, and it can be a new story.”
