Ghana’s quest for a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations suffered a significant setback after a 2-0 defeat to Sudan in a pivotal qualifier at the Martyrs International Stadium in Libya.
The Black Stars, led by Mohammed Kudus, were seeking their first win in the qualifiers. However, Sudan’s determination paid off in the second half, with Al Tash Mohammed breaking the deadlock in the 62nd minute.
Mohammed Salisu’s goal-line clearance attempt went awry, allowing Al Tash Mohammed to score from close range. Sudan doubled their lead three minutes later through Abdel-Rahaman’s precise shot, beating Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
Otto Addo’s side made several substitutions in pursuit of a goal. Inaki Williams had Ghana’s best chance in the 82nd minute, but his shot sailed wide.
Despite Ghana’s late pressure, Sudan held on for their second win in the qualifiers. Ghana now has 2 points from four games.
