President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the 24-Hour Economy policy, transitioning it from a campaign idea into a national strategy aimed at boosting productivity and inclusive economic growth.
Speaking at the launch event in Accra on Wednesday, July 2, President Mahama said the policy, which gained widespread attention in 2024, now marks the beginning of a nationwide effort to drive change.
“We have moved from slogan to strategy today,” he stated. “This launch is not the end, but the beginning of a massive national mobilisation.”
Mahama clarified that the initiative goes beyond simply extending work hours. Instead, it focuses on unlocking productivity across key sectors, expanding opportunities, and enhancing exports through structured interventions.
“The 24+ Agenda is about unleashing productivity, expanding opportunities, and accelerating exports,” he explained.
The 24-Hour Economy is a central part of the Mahama administration’s economic vision, with goals of job creation, increased investment and improved global competitiveness.
