Belgium will face Romania in their second group game in the ongoing UEFA European Championship.
Belgium faced a tough challenge after their surprising loss to Slovakia, while Romania enjoyed a resounding victory in their second Group E match on Saturday.
Domenico Tedesco’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat in their first game against Slovakia, but Romania scored three goals against Ukraine, putting them in a position to potentially secure a spot in the last 16 in Cologne.
Although none of Belgium’s players were injured in the previous match, Thomas Meunier was absent due to a thigh issue, and Axel Witsel and Jan Vertonghen, despite being available as substitutes, did not feature in the game.
Vertonghen is fit and could replace Yannick Carrasco on the left, but Witsel remains sidelined. Meunier is expected to return for Belgium’s final group match against Ukraine.
Tedesco confirmed that Witsel would not be ready for the weekend’s game, but he did not rule out his participation in the rest of the European Championship.
Orel Mangala, Dodi Lukebakio, and Youri Tielemans are at risk of suspension after receiving bookings in the first match, with Tielemans potentially replacing Lukebakio in midfield.
Johan Bakayoko may challenge Doku or Trossard for a starting spot.
