Romeo Beckham, the 22-year-old son of football legend David Beckham, has decided to retire from football to focus on a career in the fashion industry.
Instead of signing with a new club, Beckham has joined the prestigious Paris fashion agency Safe Management.
Romeo had been with Brentford’s B team since 2023 and was offered a contract extension in June.
However, he opted to depart from the club, marking yet another shift in his career path.
According to The Sun, Beckham’s move to Safe Management signals his commitment to making a name for himself in the fashion world, following in the footsteps of his mother, Victoria Beckham, a renowned fashion designer and former Spice Girl.
This isn’t the first time Romeo has changed direction in his career. He initially played for Arsenal as a youngster but later switched to tennis. In 2020, he returned to football and signed with his father’s Major League Soccer club, Inter Miami, in 2021.
During his time with Inter Miami II, Romeo made 26 appearances, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists before joining Brentford on loan in January 2023.
His move to Brentford was made permanent that summer, but now he has decided to step away from football altogether.
Romeo, who turned 22 on Sunday, has already made a mark in the fashion industry, having appeared on numerous magazine covers and even participating in a Burberry campaign at just two years old.
His parents, David and Victoria, shared heartfelt messages on social media to celebrate his birthday and his new journey.
