Scotland, having suffered their heaviest-ever opening defeat at the men’s European Championships, are looking to restore pride in their upcoming match against Switzerland in Cologne.
After the 5-1 loss to Germany, Scotland aims to bounce back, unlike Switzerland, who secured a 3-1 victory over Hungary.
The Tartan Army’s spirits were high before the tournament began, but Germany’s dominant performance quickly dampened the celebrations.
Wirtz, Musiala, Havertz, Fullkrug, and Can all scored against Scotland, who played with 10 men in the second half due to Porteous’s red card.
Although Scotland managed to score with an own goal and briefly lifted spirits, Can’s goal reaffirmed Germany’s dominance.
Sitting at the bottom of Group A, Scotland’s chances of advancing are slim, and they must play without the suspended Porteous in the upcoming matches.
Porteous’s red card resulted in his suspension for the Switzerland match and the final group game against Hungary, leaving a gap in Scotland’s defense.
The match will start at exactly 7:00pm local time.
