President John Dramani Mahama has asserted that the strength of Ghana’s Armed Forces is essentially linked to the quality of its leadership and the policies that guide its operations.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Ghana Armed Forces Council on Monday March 24, President Mahama stated, “The strength of our Armed Forces depends not only on the bravery of the men and women in uniform but also on the leadership policies and decisions that guide them.”
He urged the newly appointed council, which includes

3. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Member
4. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka – Member and other top military officials, to prioritize integrity, professionalism, and accountability within the military to safeguard the welfare of the officers who risk their lives in the service of the nation.
He went on to reinforce the crucial role of the Council’s decisions in shaping the future of the Armed Forces.
“The decision you make as a council will shape the future of our armed forces. It is, therefore, imperative that you approach this duty with wisdom, integrity, and a deep commitment to national service.”
Addressing the council members, President Mahama challenged them to uphold the highest standards of conduct.
“As members of the armed forces council, we must ensure that the highest standard of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability are maintained within the ranks of our armed forces.”
The new council, led by Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong, is tasked with overseeing the strategic direction of the Army, Navy and Air Force. As Ghana faces various security challenges, including regional instability, the President’s call for strong leadership comes at a crucial time.
