The minority caucus in Parliament has accused the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine of abusing his office by ordering searches, arrests, and conducting investigations into former government appointees.
Addressing journalists in Parliament on Monday, March 24, Second Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, called on the Attorney General to immediately halt such actions.
According to Ahmed Shaib, photographs circulating on social media show signs of destruction and ransacking.
Ahmed Shaib raised several questions regarding the legality and conduct of the raid, particularly questioning why, if a court-issued warrant truly existed, it was not presented to Dr Addisson before or during the operation.
“Brute force was used to overpower his private security” and why “the CCTV camera was dismantled and taken away.”
“Transparency is a hallmark that ensures lawful enforcement,” Ahmed Shaib continued.
