The National Service Authority (NSA) has officially released PIN codes for 132,393 prospective national service personnel from 100 accredited tertiary institutions across the country for the 2025/2026 service year.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 17, the NSA announced significant improvements in data validation processes, attributing the accuracy and integrity of this year’s list to enhanced verification protocols and greater transparency.
These measures, the Authority noted, have helped eliminate fraudulent or inflated submissions, resulting in a 26% average reduction in numbers compared to the previous three years. The drop is even steeper—36%—when compared to the 2022/2023 service year.
The NSA received a total of 135,990 submissions from 122 tertiary institutions. However, 3,597 entries were disqualified for originating from 22 unaccredited institutions. According to the NSA, these schools are not recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and therefore, their graduates will not be mobilised unless the institutions regularise their accreditation status.
“Institutional accreditation is non-negotiable. Affected institutions have 30 days to comply with GTEC requirements to avoid denying service opportunities to their graduates,” the release stated.
Prospective service personnel must activate their PIN codes by paying GH¢40 at any ADB Bank branch or GH¢41 via MTN Mobile Money. Registration opens June 17, 2025, and closes on July 1, 2025.
Applicants should visit the official portal — https://smarthub.nss.gov.gh — to retrieve their PIN codes and complete their registration.
In addition, 908 private applicants, including Ghanaian students who studied abroad or deferred in previous years, are undergoing final verification. These individuals are advised to contact the NSA if their PIN codes remain inaccessible after June 24, 2025.
Enhanced Security and Placement Measures
To ensure a more transparent and secure process, the NSA has introduced two major verification features for online registration:
Facial Biometric Verification: Applicants must validate their identity using their Ghana Card details, verified against the National Identification Authority (NIA) database.
Verified Address Requirement: All applicants must input their GhanaPost GPS address, which will influence regional placement decisions based on proximity to service locations.
More information and guidance can be found on the registration support page: https://smarthub.nss.gov.gh/faq/registration-guide or through the NSA’s live chat or email: [email protected].
As part of a new initiative, the NSA is launching a six-week Basic Military Training programme for a select number of 2025/2026 applicants. Interested candidates can opt in during the registration process.
The Authority clarified that participation in the programme will not affect final placement, as service postings will follow the military training.
The NSA concluded its announcement by reaffirming its commitment to a transparent, secure, and meaningful national service experience, and extended best wishes to all prospective service personnel.
