The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has relaunched its “Setting the Records Straight” campaign, describing the initiative as a strategic response to what it claims is a growing spread of misinformation by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the party, the campaign will be used to counter false narratives and maintain public confidence in the government’s policies and programmes.

Speaking at the relaunch event held at the NDC headquarters in Accra on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the party’s Deputy National Communications Officer, Arko Gunn, accused the opposition party of orchestrating a coordinated effort aimed at undermining public trust in the government.

According to him, repeated misinformation by the NPP was gradually shaping public perception and required a direct political response from the governing party.

“In a democracy, elections are not won by silence. They are won by trust and constant engagement,” he stated.

Mr. Gunn further argued that the NDC government had, within 17 months in office, implemented decisive measures to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, and roll out people-centred policies.

“But governance alone is not enough. Communication is important,” he added.

He explained that the relaunch of the “Setting the Records Straight” platform was intended to ensure that government policies, achievements, and interventions are effectively communicated to the Ghanaian public.

“Political misinformation requires political response, firm, direct, and unapologetic,” he stressed.

The “Setting the Records Straight” initiative was previously used by the NDC as a platform to address public concerns, clarify government policies, and respond to criticisms from political opponents.
