Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The team will be captained by Jordan Ayew, featuring a blend of experienced players and promising talents.
Among the notable inclusions are three home-based players: Benjamin Asare from Accra Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson from Nations FC. Deputy captain Thomas Partey, an Arsenal midfielder, makes his return to the squad after missing four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year.
With over 50 caps since his debut in June 2016, Partey is expected to provide crucial experience to the squad.
Other key players joining the squad include Kamal Deen Sulemana of Southampton FC, who has fully recovered from a lengthy injury, and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo, who impressed in a previous match against Niger last November.
Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah, playing for Genk, also received an invitation.
The left-footed winger, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, has a rich career history, starting with Accra Shooting Stars before moving to Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08 and then Genk in July 2023.
However, up to 12 players, including Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, and Abdul Mumin, have been ruled out of selection due to injury concerns.
The team is set to assemble on Monday, March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp before facing Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Following that, the Black Stars will travel to Morocco to take on Madagascar in another Group I match on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Ghana currently sits second in Group I, boasting nine points from four matches, with three wins and one defeat, tied on points with Comoros.
Their qualifying campaign began with a narrow 1-0 victory over Madagascar, followed by a setback against Comoros.
The team rebounded with consecutive wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
