Asante Kotoko SC has announced the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as the club’s Interim Head Coach and Technical Director, marking a significant move in its ongoing technical restructuring efforts.
Zito, a former player and coach of the Porcupine Warriors, returns to Kumasi with a wealth of experience and a proven track record both domestically and internationally.
His recent achievements include guiding Dreams FC to a historic semi-final berth in the CAF Confederation Cup and leading Ghana’s U-20 team to glory in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The club hopes that Zito’s dual role will bring stability and clear direction to the team as it continues its search for a permanent head coach.
Supporting Zito in the reshaped technical bench is Prince Yaw Owusu, who has been appointed as Assistant Coach.
With over two decades of experience coaching in Ghana, Sudan, and the United States, Owusu brings a deep understanding of youth development and tactical acumen.
His résumé includes roles with Medeama SC, Inter Allies, and Ghana’s U-20 and U-17 national teams.
Notably, he has played a pivotal role in developing talents who have gone on to feature for European clubs such as AC Milan, Genoa, Sassuolo, and Fiorentina.
In addition, Malik Jabir, a former Technical Director of the club, has been named Technical Advisor.
In this newly defined strategic position, Jabir will provide high-level guidance to help shape the club’s long-term vision and sustainability.
The club states that these appointments reflect its renewed commitment to establishing a strong, modern technical framework designed to drive consistent success both locally and on the continental stage.
Asante Kotoko fans will be watching closely as the new leadership team seeks to usher in a new era for one of Ghana’s most storied football clubs.
