The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has downplayed concerns about a potential clash in Parliament when it reconvenes on Tuesday, October 22.
Addressing the issue, Afenyo-Markin stated that if tensions rise, members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) majority are ready to walk out rather than engage in confrontations.
His remarks came in response to a press conference by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday, during which the party claimed they would assert control over the Majority side of the House.
This followed Speaker Alban Bagbin’s recent decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant, sparking a heated political debate.
“As far as we are concerned, the Supreme Court has issued a directive, and Parliament will be served. If the need arises, we will simply walk out,” Afenyo-Markin stated.
He further explained that the NPP is focused on adhering to the Court’s orders rather than engaging in political theatrics.
