The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken steps to address rising internal tensions by calling a meeting with all individuals who have publicly declared intentions to contest the party’s flagbearer position for the 2026 elections.

The meeting, set for Thursday, July 3, 2025, will bring together the aspirants, members of the National Steering Committee, and the National Council of Elders. The party says the discussion will focus on promoting unity and reinforcing internal order ahead of what is expected to be a competitive primary season.

The announcement was made in an official statement released on Tuesday, June 24, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong. The statement emphasized that the party leadership aims to engage all aspirants in a joint conversation to safeguard cohesion as preparations intensify.

In a related development, Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee. His referral comes after he allegedly ignored prior warnings from the National Council and made comments in the media that breached party directives. Meanwhile, the party has issued a directive halting all meetings or caucuses organized by current or former executives and government officials with any of the presidential aspirants.

According to the statement, these activities violate party rules and risk destabilizing internal harmony.

The NPP reiterated its call for members to uphold the party’s constitution, respect decisions made by leadership, and avoid conduct that could undermine unity.
