The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has directed the contractor handling the Adwofua–Oseikojokrom road project to speed up work, citing delays in progress.
According to a briefing from the Regional Department of Roads and Highways, the contractor has been on site for about five months but has completed only 15 per cent of the project, falling short of the expected 20 per cent within that period.
Expressing concern over the slow pace, the Minister urged the contractor to improve performance and meet the agreed timelines.
The project has been awarded to Cymains Ghana Limited, a firm the Ministry describes as experienced in road construction.
Mr. Agbodza noted that government, through its Big Push infrastructure initiative, is committed to supporting capable local contractors but expects timely delivery of projects.
He has therefore given the company a two-month window to make significant progress and align with the project schedule.
Local residents have also raised concerns about delays, calling on authorities to ensure the project is completed on time. Some suggested that any financial challenges affecting the work should be addressed to speed up execution.
Meanwhile, the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has urged the contractor to collaborate closely with the Regional Coordinating Council to enhance supervision and coordination of the project.
