When the pressure peaked and the title hung in the balance, Ampem Darkoa Ladies found another gear. The Northern champions came from behind to defeat Hasaacas Ladies 2-1 at the Swedru Sports Stadium, sealing the 2025/26 Women’s Premier League crown in dramatic fashion. It was a night of resilience, belief, and a statement that this team belongs at the very top.

Hasaacas Ladies struck first and looked in control. Against the run of play, Abiba Issah rose highest to head home in the 38th minute after a well-worked free kick. It was a classic Hasaacas moment, efficient, disciplined, and built on their reputation as one of the league’s strongest defensive sides.

That goal shifted the mood inside the stadium. Hasaacas, champions of the Southern Zone, began to settle into their structure, while Ampem Darkoa were forced to chase. Yet beneath the surface, the Techiman-based side were already creating chances and asking questions.

The turning point came after the break. Ampem Darkoa returned with urgency and purpose, pushing higher and moving the ball with greater speed. Their equaliser arrived in the 58th minute when veteran midfielder Priscilla Okyere calmly tapped home from close range, capping a spell of growing dominance.

From that moment, the momentum was clear. Ampem Darkoa pressed forward with confidence, while Hasaacas began to show cracks rarely seen this season. The Takoradi side had conceded very few goals all year, but the pressure was relentless.

With seven minutes left, the decisive moment arrived. Gloria Adomako Ameaa reacted quickest inside the box and fired home after a defensive lapse, completing a comeback that felt both dramatic and deserved. The stadium erupted as Ampem Darkoa players and fans embraced the moment.

This final had been billed as attack versus defence. Ampem Darkoa came in with one of the league’s most potent attacks, scoring more than double Hasaacas’ tally across the season. Hasaacas, however, built their campaign on resilience, conceding far fewer goals. In the end, attacking intent won the day.

The victory carries deep significance. Ampem Darkoa now claim their fifth league title, matching Hasaacas as the most successful club in the competition’s history. It also marks a return to the summit after recent seasons of fierce competition, including Police Ladies’ triumph last year.

Beyond the trophy, the journey continues. Ampem Darkoa will now represent Ghana in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, carrying both momentum and expectation.
