English Premier League clubs have decided to bring in semi-automated offside technology next season.

This technology was successfully used during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but the Premier League had been hesitant to adopt it until now.

Although it won’t be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season, it’s expected to be implemented before Christmas.

The semi-automated offside technology utilizes multiple cameras positioned under the stadium roof to monitor the ball and capture up to 29 data points of each player, 50 times per second, to determine their precise position on the field.

The introduction of this technology aims to facilitate faster and more precise offside decisions.

It will address the ongoing debate surrounding VAR among Premier League managers, players, and fans.
