Akufo-Addo leaves Ghana for BRICS summit

President Akufo-Addo has left Ghana, today, Tuesday, 22nd August 2023, to attend the 15th BRICS Summit.

The President left the country to Johannesburg at the invitation of the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa for the summit which is being held between August 22 and August 24.

The BRICS Summit is the gathering of leaders from Brazil, India, China and South Africa who together with Russia form the BRICS, a group of world emerging economies.

President Akufo-Addo who left the country in the company of Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and some officials from the Jubilee House and the Ministry, is expected to deliver a statement at the summit.

The President will return to Ghana on Friday, 25th August 2023, and in his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.
