A court in Kumasi has given bail to five individuals who assaulted match officials during the Ghana Premier League game between Asante Kotoko and Nations FC on March 24, 2024.

The match officials that were assaulted are Referee James Taylor, his assistants Kwesi Brobbey and Roland Addy along with fourth official Hasim Yakubu.

The accused persons, Anthony Twum Barima, Habib Moro, George Aduko, known as ‘Adongo’, Baba Iddi, and Yaw Bediako, also known as Osebo, appeared before Circuit Court 1, Asokwa on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

The Presiding Judge, His Honour Obiri Kyere, granted bail of GHC 30,000 to each of the five accused persons, with one surety to be justified, after they pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and assault.

The accused persons are believed to be Asante Kotoko supporters and will return to court on May 3, 2024, for Case Management Conference (CMC).

The Safety and Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association is implementing proactive measures to address hooliganism at football matches.
