The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued a stern warning to all Heads of Schools, Supervisors, and Invigilators involved in the upcoming examination, urging them to refrain from engaging in or facilitating any form of cheating.

This caution follows intelligence reports that have uncovered widespread schemes aimed at undermining the integrity of the examination process.

WAEC has expressed concern over allegations that certain institutions are involved in orchestrating plans to assist candidates in cheating during the exams.

According to the reports, candidates in some regions are being charged between Gh¢200.00 and Gh¢500.00 for illegal assistance from invigilators.

Additionally, there are worrying indications that supervisors at some examination centers are assigning teachers to invigilate students they have taught, which is a clear violation of examination protocols.

Further investigations by WAEC have revealed that some schools have registered individuals who are not bona fide students as candidates for the examination.

WAEC has made it unequivocally clear that such actions will not be tolerated, and any individuals found to be involved will face strict penalties.

In its statement, WAEC reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, emphasizing that candidates caught cheating will have their entries nullified, and those who manage to sneak into the exams will have their entire results canceled if discovered. Examination centers found to be in breach of the rules may also face relocation to WAEC-designated centers.

WAEC is appealing to all stakeholders, particularly supervisors and invigilators, to collaborate in safeguarding the examination’s integrity.

The council also advised candidates to adhere strictly to the examination rules and to be vigilant against rogue website operators who circulate fake questions to mislead and distract them from their studies.

The Council concluded by wishing all candidates success in their exams, reminding them that they can achieve good results without resorting to cheating.
