Denis Law, the former Scotland, Manchester United, and Manchester City striker, has died at the age of 84.

Renowned as the only Scottish player to win the Ballon d’Or, Law was affectionately known as “The King” and “The Lawman.”

Law spent 11 remarkable years at Manchester United, scoring 237 goals in 404 appearances, making him the club’s third-highest scorer of all time, behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton.

Born in Aberdeen, he began his career at Huddersfield Town, had a stint in Italy with Torino, and was capped 55 times for Scotland, where he scored 30 goals, earning him the title of Scotland’s joint top scorer in history.

During his career, Law set a British transfer record fee three times. In 2021, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.

In a heartfelt statement, his family said:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our father, Denis Law. He fought a tough battle but is now at peace.

We are grateful to everyone who supported and cared for him throughout his life, especially in recent years.

Your love and support were always appreciated and made a difference. Thank you.”

Denis Law’s contributions to football and his legacy as a legend of the sport will never be forgotten.
