The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has intensified its investigation into alleged corruption involving revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), with the arrest of five additional individuals, including former senior public officials and SML associates.
The newly arrested individuals are:
Evans Adusei, Chief Executive Officer of SML
Philip Mensah, former Deputy Commissioner (Legal) at GRA, currently serving as Legal Consultant to SML
Kofi Nti, former Commissioner-General of GRA
Joseph Kuruk and Faustina Adjorkor, both officials of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA)
Three of the individuals were held overnight after failing to meet bail conditions but were later released along with the others after meeting the required terms.
These arrests add to an expanding list of persons of interest in the OSP’s ongoing investigation, which earlier led to the detention of:
Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Commissioner-General of GRA, Isaac Crentsil, former Commissioner of Customs and current General Manager at SML, Christian Tetteh Sottie, former Technical Advisor at GRA and now Managing Director of SML
The OSP is probing the legality and procurement processes surrounding the contracts awarded to SML and is examining the financial impact of those deals on the state.
Of particular interest is the claim by SML that its operations have helped the government achieve significant revenue savings—a claim the OSP is working to verify through its forensic and legal assessment.
The investigation underscores the government’s stated commitment to transparency and accountability in public procurement and revenue management, as scrutiny continues over the nature of public-private partnerships and the use of state resources.
