Staff of the National Identification Authority are expected to resume work on Friday, May 15, following the suspension of their ongoing strike action.

The assurance was given by the General Secretary of the Public Services Workers’ Union, Bernard Adjei, after the National Labour Commission directed the workers to call off the strike.

NIA workers began their industrial action on Wednesday, May 13, over delays in the implementation of migration reports linked to their conditions of service.

Speaking after a hearing involving the union, the National Identification Authority, and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on Thursday, May 14, Mr. Adjei said the union had accepted the directive in good faith.

He expressed optimism that all parties involved, particularly the Ministry of Finance and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, would fulfil their commitments to help resolve the impasse and restore industrial harmony.

According to him, the union considers the directive fair and is committed to ensuring that staff return to work as directed by the commission.

Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission has also instructed the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to facilitate the approval and implementation of the migration report for NIA staff by the end of May 2026.
