President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling corruption, announcing an independent audit of the controversial National Cathedral project initiated under former President Akufo-Addo.
Delivering a national address on Wednesday, May 7, to mark his first 120 days in office, President Mahama revealed that international audit firm Deloitte and Touche has been engaged to conduct a thorough review of the project. The audit report is expected to be completed by the end of May.
“The war against corruption continues unabated. Deloitte and Touche is conducting an independent audit of the National Cathedral project,” President Mahama stated.
He further disclosed that investigations are also underway into other major government undertakings, including the organisation of the 13th African Games. According to the President, several officials have already been invited and questioned as part of the probe.
These actions reflect the administration’s broader anti-corruption agenda, a key pillar of Mahama’s campaign and one he has reiterated since assuming office.
