Former President John Mahama has announced plans to reform taxation policies if elected in the upcoming general election.
During the NDC’s Youth Townhall Meeting in Accra, Mahama expressed concerns about the current betting tax and its impact on young people and the gaming industry.
He promised to explore alternative revenue sources and eliminate the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and betting tax. Mahama criticized the E-Levy for failing to meet revenue targets and placing additional financial burdens on citizens. His proposals aim to alleviate financial pressure and promote economic growth.
This, he says, forms part of his campaign strategy to address key economic issues and provide financial relief to Ghanaians. Mahama’s promises may resonate with voters, particularly those affected by current economic measures, as the election approaches.
