Five (5) Flagbearer hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully balloted for their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s highly anticipated presidential primary slated for January 31, 2026.

The balloting exercise, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, was conducted under the supervision of the party’s National Elections Committee in accordance with its internal electoral guidelines issued on July 29.

At the end of the process, former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, secured the first position, placing him at the top of the ballot.
He was followed by Dr Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister for Agriculture, who picked the second slot.

Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, widely regarded as one of the frontrunners in the contest, drew the third position, while former Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, picked the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The upcoming primary is expected to be a decisive moment for the ruling party as it seeks to elect a flagbearer to lead it into the 2028 general elections.
