John Ansah has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) following a resounding victory in elections held on Thursday at the GHALCA Secretariat, Accra Sports Stadium.
Ansah secured 95 votes, decisively defeating his opponent, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, who garnered 35 votes. He succeeds Kudjoe Fianoo, who stepped down after a long tenure at the helm.
In the Vice Chairmanship race, Phyllis Marku retained her position by defeating Nana Amankwaa Kwakye.
With three terms as a GHALCA executive member, Ansah brings experience and a commitment to ethical governance. Outlining his vision, he said, *“My goal is to build a better future for all members by promoting responsible leadership, transparency, and integrity.”* He plans to prioritize club welfare and foster collaboration within the association for an inclusive and prosperous future.
The election drew participation from 134 members, including representatives from the Premier League (36), Division One (48), Regional Football Associations (30), and Women’s Premier League (20).
For Koomson, this marks his third unsuccessful attempt at the chairmanship, following defeats to Kudjoe Fianoo in 2016 and 2020.
