Ghanaian hiplife icon, Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has been disqualified from contesting in the presidential race of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Ghana.
The decision was made by the UGSRC Vetting Committee after a thorough vetting process.
Guru and his running mate, Lawrence Edinam Egleh, were found to be non-residents of any hall of residence at the university, contravening Article 30(1)(a) of the UGSRC Constitution.
This requirement mandates that candidates for executive office must qualify to be Executive Officers of their respective halls of residence.
Despite leading the university’s online polls before his disqualification, Guru’s presidential aspirations have been put on hold due to this technicality.
Meanwhile, the UGSRC elections are set to take place later this year, with the remaining qualified candidates expected to intensify their campaigns.
