Former Inspector-General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reportedly passed away after a period of illness.

Details surrounding his death remain limited, although tributes have begun pouring in from within senior ranks of the Ghana Police Service, where he was widely respected for his leadership and discipline.

While official confirmation from his family is yet to be formally communicated, colleagues have described him as a dedicated and principled law enforcement officer.

Mr. Quaye was appointed IGP in 2009 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills. During his tenure, he championed reforms aimed at modernising the police service and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

Known among peers as a “gentle giant” for his calm demeanour and firm command, he oversaw initiatives focused on professionalism and adherence to high ethical standards within the service.

He retired in 2013 after decades of service to the nation, leaving behind a legacy marked by discipline and institutional reform.
