The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has selected Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, as its new presidential candidate following the recent passing of Akua Donkor, the party’s former candidate.
This decision was officially communicated in a letter to the Electoral Commission on November 4, 2024.
In the letter, GFP confirmed that Philip Appiah Kubi will be the party’s representative in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“I hereby write to inform the Commission that the party has duly nominated Philip Appiah Kubi to replace our late presidential candidate for the 2024 elections,” the letter stated, adding that his nomination would be filed within the legal timeframe.
The GFP’s move comes in response to the Electoral Commission’s request for a new candidate submission following Akua Donkor’s death. The party aims to meet all necessary requirements to ensure Appiah Kubi’s candidacy is formally registered ahead of the elections.
