The upcoming edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is now taking shape, following the official draw held on Sunday, April 13, in Cairo, Egypt.
The tournament is scheduled to run from April 27 to May 18 and promises fierce competition among Africa’s top youth teams.
Originally slated to be hosted by Côte d’Ivoire, the tournament was relocated to Egypt after the West African country withdrew as host.
Ghana’s Black Satellites, led by head coach Desmond Ofei, have been actively preparing for the tournament.
Their preparations included a training camp in Morocco, aimed at sharpening the squad’s readiness for the continental showpiece.
Back in Accra, the team has resumed training and is expected to play a series of friendly matches to fine-tune their strategy before departing for Egypt.
The Black Satellites face a tough path ahead and must hit the ground running, particularly against heavyweight opponents like Senegal.
Should they advance from the group stage, a potential knockout clash could await them against formidable sides such as host nation Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, or Zambia.
