The Ghanaian movie industry has been thrown into mourning following the passing of renowned actress, television host and entrepreneur, Beverly Afaglo Baah.

According to reports, she passed away at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema after battling cancer. Her death was confirmed by her husband, bringing shock and sadness to many fans, colleagues and loved ones.

Beverly would have celebrated her 43rd birthday in three days’ time, having been born on May 28, 1983.

Beverly Afaglo Baah hailed from the Volta Region of Ghana. She pursued Journalism and Public Relations at (UNIMAC-IJ), formerly known as the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). She also received professional training at FC Institute of Beauty Therapy, a path that later influenced her entrepreneurial ventures.

She first gained public attention as a television presenter on TV3 and Metro TV before fully transitioning into the movie industry. Beverly rose to fame in the early 2000s after starring in the popular four-character movie series “I Am About to Wed,” alongside notable actors such as Hon. John Dumelo, Prince David Osei and Yvonne Asante. Her confidence, lively personality and comic delivery quickly made her a household name in Ghanaian movies.

Over the years, she featured in several productions including “A Northern Affair,” “Side Chick Gang,” and “Every Woman Has a Story,” among many others. Her talent earned her recognition in the film industry, including a nomination at the Ghana Movie Awards and the Best Actress in Comedy award in 2010. She was also recognised for her supporting role in the movie “The Game.”

Beyond acting, Beverly Afaglo Baah was also active in business. She owned Glamour Beauty Salon located in Tema, launched a food business known as Traffic Shawarma, and founded BAB Handiman Ghana Limited, a maintenance and repair service company. Her ability to balance entertainment and business inspired many young women.

Beverly was married to Ghanaian musician Eugene Kwadwo Boadi Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster of the music group Praye fame. Together, they had two daughters. She was also known for speaking passionately about the challenges and growth of the Ghanaian movie industry.

Her passing marks a painful loss to the entertainment fraternity and to all who admired her work and personality.
