AirtelTigo (AT) and MTN Ghana have officially announced the removal of the 1% Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) on all mobile money (MoMo) transactions.
This move comes in response to President John Dramani Mahama’s assent to a new tax bill into law on Wednesday, April 02, 2025.
This law effectively scrapped out the E-Levy, along with the betting tax and emission tax.
In a message sent to customers on Thursday, April 03, the MTN and AT confirmed that the levy has been abolished and will no longer apply to MoMo transfers.
However, customers of Telecel, previously Vodafone, are yet to receive this notification.
