In the wake of the Black Stars of Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured Ghanaian football fans of enhanced travel arrangements to the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, October 13, the Minister congratulated the national team and revealed plans to leverage Ghana’s strong diplomatic ties with the host nations to secure favorable visa quotas for fans.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification,” he wrote. “Ghanaians can be fully assured that the Foreign Ministry under my leadership shall leverage our improved cordial diplomatic relations with the United States, Canada, and Mexico to guarantee appreciable visa quotas for our globally acclaimed football fans. GHANA, here we come!”
The Black Stars’ qualification has reignited national pride as the team looks ahead to representing Ghana on football’s biggest stage once more.
Ghana officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a narrow 1–0 victory over Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This win marks the Black Stars’ fifth appearance at the global tournament since their debut in 2006.
