71

Blackberry Lounge delivered a memorable double dose of live music this past weekend, hosting two of Ghana’s most exciting band acts, Adaha Dance Band and Nkyinkyim Band, for two standout nights of rhythm, nostalgia and pure entertainment.

From the first note to the final encore, the atmosphere was electric. The performances drew music lovers together around the kind of experience that is becoming increasingly valuable in Accra’s nightlife scene: great live sound, familiar songs, good food and drinks, and a setting made for friends to connect.

Adaha Dance Band brought its signature celebration of Ghana’s dance-band and highlife tradition to the stage. Led by Kweku Boateng, the ensemble is known for reintroducing the rich, brass-led sound of classic Ghanaian dance bands to a new generation—blending highlife with influences of calypso, samba, juju-highlife and Afrobeat. Their performance at Blackberry Lounge was a reminder that timeless Ghanaian music still has the power to get every generation moving.

Nkyinkyim Band followed with the vibrant, wide-ranging sound that has made them one of the country’s most in-demand contemporary live bands. With a repertoire spanning highlife, Afrobeat, hiplife, reggae and funk, the group brings a youthful energy to Ghanaian classics and modern favourites alike. Their versatility turned the night into more than a performance; it became a full live-music experience.

Together, the two shows underlined what Blackberry Lounge is building: a dependable weekend home for audiences who want more than just a night out. They want musicianship, atmosphere and the shared energy that only a live band can create.

Blackberry Lounge has steadily made live entertainment a defining part of its identity, having previously hosted celebrated acts including Adaha Dance Band, Ark Band, Deedew Crew and Swiss Band. That consistency is helping cement the venue’s status as one of Accra’s premier destinations for live band entertainment every weekend.

For lovers of highlife, Afrobeat, old-school Ghanaian favourites and quality live performance, Blackberry Lounge is proving that the weekend sounds better with a band on stage.
