In a major boost for cocoa farmers across Ghana, the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) has announced a significant increase in the producer price of cocoa for the 2024/2025 cocoa season.

The new price, effective immediately, is set at GH¢48,000 per tonne, representing a 129% increase from the price established in September 2023.

This upward adjustment reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring fair compensation for cocoa producers amid rising production costs and global market dynamics.

Under the new pricing structure, farmers will now earn GH¢3,000 for each 64-kilogram bag of cocoa. This adjustment marks not only a 129% rise from the September 2023 price but also a 45% increase compared to the price set in April 2024.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and other stakeholders have expressed optimism that the new pricing will incentivize farmers and help stabilize cocoa production in the country.
