President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Sahara LPG Vessel in South Korea.
This development has been described as a significant step toward strengthening energy security and improving the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply chain in Ghana and across West Africa.

The commissioning ceremony brought together government officials, industry stakeholders and international partners to witness the unveiling of the modern vessel, which is expected to enhance the transportation and distribution of LPG within the region.

Speaking at the event on Thursday, March 12, President Mahama said the vessel would help ensure a more reliable energy supply for countries that depend partly on imported LPG.

He noted that the project represents a milestone in strengthening partnerships within the energy sector while promoting safe and efficient fuel transportation.
“Today, we celebrate not only engineering excellence but also the power of partnership,” he said. “The commissioning of this state-of-the-art, dual-fuel, fully refrigerated LPG carrier reflects the collective vision and collaboration of stakeholders committed to advancing safe, efficient and responsible energy distribution.”
The Sahara LPG Vessel is expected to support efforts to improve energy access and reinforce the LPG supply chain across the sub-region.
