Ghana Premier League clubs are set for a financial boost as the Ghana Football Association announces a GHS 1 million cash injection per club ahead of the 2025/26 season. This move comes as part of a new broadcast partnership between the GFA, Adesa Productions, and the Office of the Chief of Staff.

The deal, launched on Thursday, July 31 in Accra, marks a new era for the domestic game. GFA President Kurt Okraku declared that each top-flight club will receive “a minimum” of GHS 1 million before the new campaign kicks off in September.

“Through this unique partnership with Adesa Productions, each of our GPL clubs will receive one million Ghana cedis,” Okraku said. “This is not a grant. It is a firm commitment by the Football Association, Adesa, and the government.”

The agreement ends speculation about a possible return of former broadcasters StarTimes, who had failed to renew their contract after the 2023/24 season. Adesa Productions, a subsidiary of Media General, will now handle live broadcast duties for the league.

Beyond the GHS 1 million baseline, clubs will also receive performance-based bonuses. Teams will earn additional funds depending on their final positions on the league table, an incentive meant to raise competitiveness across the league.

This financial support is expected to help clubs retain talent and reduce player departures to foreign leagues. It also creates a foundation for greater commercial growth, with the GFA hopeful of drawing in more sponsors and investment.

The initiative arrives at a crucial time. Defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars are preparing to defend their title, with 17 other teams set to challenge them when the season begins on the weekend of September 12.

The GFA has also secured commercial backing from LeLe Tasty Foods and Kasapreko Company Limited. These partnerships reflect a broader commitment to strengthening Ghanaian football from both a sporting and business perspective.

With fresh investment, a new broadcaster, and a promise of stability, the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season could be a turning point for domestic football.
