Medeama SC have received a major lift ahead of their 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League campaign after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the Tarkwa and Aboso (TnA) Stadium to host Preliminary Round matches. The decision marks a historic first for Tarkwa, where continental club football will now be played in front of the club’s passionate home supporters.
The Category 2 Stadium Approval follows a detailed CAF inspection that confirmed the venue meets the required standards. The stadium is now eligible to host CAF Youth and Women’s National Team qualifiers, as well as Preliminary Round fixtures in CAF interclub competitions.
For Medeama, the approval is more than an administrative success. It means the Ghana Premier League champions no longer have to move their opening continental fixtures to another city, giving them the chance to play on familiar ground with the energy of their fans behind them.
Home advantage has often played a key role in African club competitions. The atmosphere created by local supporters can make the difference in tightly contested ties, and Medeama will hope the TnA Stadium becomes a difficult place for visiting teams as they chase a place in the group stage.
