Manchester United after losing bitterly to Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge last Thursday will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways this weekend.

They face Liverpool at the Old Trafford in a Premier League classic encounter.

Last month, the Red Devils narrowly won a thrilling FA Cup match at Old Trafford, thanks to Amad Diallo’s late goal that prevented Jurgen Klopp’s team from securing another trophy before his departure.

Will Manchester United take inspiration from that showpiece to once again have the better of Liverpool?

The Red Devils have the opportunity to secure victories in two home games against Liverpool in the same season, a feat they have achieved only twice before, in 1998-99 and 2010-11.

Manchester United has only managed to win one out of their last 11 league matches against Liverpool (with 4 draws and 6 losses).

Liverpool recently climbed back to the top of the Premier League standings by securing a late victory against Sheffield United at Anfield.

Dropping points in this fixture for Liverpool will give Arsenal the chance to lead the table if they win their game against Brighton.

Liverpool can definitely draw inspiration from their star player, Mohammed Salah, who has a fantastic track record against Manchester United.

Salah has netted an impressive 13 goals in 14 matches against Manchester United for Liverpool.

Notably, he scored eight of those goals in his last five appearances at Old Trafford across all competitions.

TEAM NEWS

Manchester United is awaiting updates on the fitness of Casemiro, Jonny Evans, and Raphael Varane after they were forced off during the Chelsea match.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, and Diogo Jota are still on the road to recovery from their injuries and are not yet prepared to make their comebacks.

Liverpool is anticipating the return of Wataru Endo after he missed the Sheffield United game due to an injury sustained against Brighton. It’s always a positive sign when a player comes back from injury to boost the team.
