A coalition of grassroots members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region has thrown its weight behind Dr. Bryan Acheampong as the party’s ideal presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.

The endorsement came through a joint press release issued by a group comprising Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Constituency-level leaders. The group praised Dr. Acheampong for his consistent dedication to party development and community upliftment, describing him as a “unifier with unmatched commitment to the party’s grassroots.”

“We believe Dr. Bryan Acheampong embodies the leadership qualities the NPP needs — someone who genuinely connects with the base and understands our struggles,” said Thelma Adzimah, who spoke on behalf of the group.

The group highlighted his sustained contributions in key areas such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and local infrastructure as evidence of his long-term commitment to both national development and party-building. They contrasted his track record with that of other presidential aspirants, whom they accused of neglecting the party’s foundation until election seasons approach.

The statement was also critical of former government officials eyeing the 2028 flagbearer slot, suggesting many of them had failed to acknowledge or engage with party foot soldiers after gaining power. “We, the grassroots, are the heartbeat of the party — without our efforts, victory at the polls is impossible,” the group emphasized.

Touching on internal party cohesion, especially after the contentious 2023 primaries, the coalition stated that Dr. Acheampong has the calm demeanor and leadership maturity required to unify the party and steer it toward electoral success.

They also called on the party’s national leadership to ensure that upcoming internal elections are free, fair, and inclusive. The group warned that top-down endorsements from party elites must not override the voices of grassroots members, who form the party’s operational backbone.

“We want a leader who walks with us, not one who remembers us only when it’s convenient,” they concluded.
